Valley’s Got Talent

Had a great time helping judge the Grand Forks Exchange Club’s 3rd annual Valley’s Got Talent show this afternoon at the Empire Arts Center in Grand Forks with vivacious Naomi Dunavan and the equally vivacious Brad Sherwood and Dean Opp.

Host Rob Hudson was adorable, of course.

Singer Karly Ritland and her backup band took the top $500 prize. Guitarist/pianist Niilo Smith came in second with his own unique composition.

I have to say, however, my personal favorite was Gerald Anton aka rapper Nova Cain. He got me from the start with his stage outfit, part of which was a black t-shirt that read #gotstalent on the front. Part of the back read “One Shot One Kill.” Maybe don’t ask.

At any rate, his self-written/produced rap was wonderful, as was his dancing.

All in all, it was a wonderful afternoon. Thanks to the Grand Forks Exchange Club for the invite.
