It’s been great fun talking with all of our guests again this week on WDAZ News @5. Among them, Brad Meltzer, the author of the new thriller The Fifth Assassin as well as the host of the History Channel’s popular series Decoded.
It was especially fun for me having him with us so close to the inauguration Monday. I asked him if he thinks there is a growing interest in presidential history and trivia these days. He said, “There is and you what? There should be. We are, unlike other countries, we pick our presidents. Right? Not all of them do. And we’re, therefore, invested in them. We feel like they’re parts of our family. And that’s why, sadly, when something bad happens, we feel a loss. We want to know what they wear. We want to know what they are like. I’m proud of that. That’s not the silliness of celebrity to me, I’m proud of that. That’s one of the great things about America. And I think it should be.”
