Mission Supporter Donates $20,000 to Purchase

Commercial Washers and Dryers

“We deeply appreciate [this] very thoughtful, practical and much-needed gift!”

GRAND FORKS, N.D.—Highlighting this season of giving, Northlands Rescue Mission is grateful for a contribution of $20,000 from Mission friend and supporter Dale Halvorson.  The contribution will be used to purchase two commercial washers and dryers and to cover the installation including plumbing and electrical work.

“I wanted to give a gift to do something that would fill a need in our community,” said Halvorson, formerly of Larimore, North Dakota.  And according to the Mission’s executive director, David M. Sena, the appliances will have a tremendous impact on the organization’s ability to serve the homeless here in Grand Forks and throughout the Northlands.

“We care for more than 120 homeless men and women on a daily basis, and that means providing a tremendous amount of clean bed linens, bath towels and other items used throughout the Mission,” Sena said.  “The machines are also used to launder our residents’ clothing to ensure they look their best as they go to appointments and job interviews.  We deeply appreciate Mr. Halvorson’s very thoughtful, practical and much-needed gift!”
