Couldn’t be happier that WDAZ is supporting Toys for Tots. Toys for Tots is one of the oldest organizations of its kind in the country, dating back to 1947. That would make it older than many, but not all, television anchor men.
Several years ago we did a Dullum File story on television about Toys for Tots. The thing I remember most is that the organization’s logo was designed by Walt Disney, no less. It’s still being used exactly the way Walt drew it originally. Probably no one wants to change Mr. Disney’s work. Would you?
Toys for Tots was started by a Marine reservist in Los Angeles and is run today by the U.S. Marine Corps Reserve. In Grand Forks, it is administered by United Way of Grand Forks, East Grand Forks and the Area.
Anyway, you’ve got until Monday to help us stuff the Whalen’s Moving & Storage truck parked outside our WDAZ studio at 2220 South Washington Street in Grand Forks.
We need new, unwrapped toys, especially for infants to three months, 10 to 12-year-old boys and girls and stocking stuffers.
The truck is filling up, but it’s a big truck. So, please help.
