Last night following WDAZ News @5, I shed my suit and tie and put on an elf costume. This is not something I would do normally. This IS something I would do anywhere, any time for Bob Zany and the Altru Cancer Center.
Embracing my inner-elf, Bob and I were photographed as Santa and his “helper” with patrons of Bob’s first comedy show at Muddy Rivers at the Guesthouse in Grand Forks this weekend. (He’s there again tonight and tomorrow night. I, however, won’t be getting elf-ed up again this season.)
We raised a few bucks for the cancer center and had a thousand laughs together in the process. In fact, we had more fun than two straight men in costume (one in tights) should be allowed to have. It was sort of my personal, one-on-one, x-rated Bob Zany holiday show.
Thanks to Kim at Muddy Rivers for procuring the costumes and props, to “Photographer to the Stars” Rock Tweten, to WDAZ, the Herald and KJ 108 for the promotion and to everyone who showed up for the Zany photo op. We’ll post some of the pictures as they make their inevitable rounds on the internet.
Occasionally, Bob’s wife Erin writes on Facebook that her husband “tells jokes.” True, but that’s like saying Lincoln was a pretty good president. Bob Zany tells jokes as well as anybody on the face of the earth. What not everyone knows is that he has a heart to match his enormous talent.
Happy holidays, Bob.

Great pictures. Great cause.
