Just got to listen to an advance copy of the new album “Smokey Robinson:Â Now and Then.” It’s killer.
The Now part is a half dozen studio recordings, all but one of them written by “William Robinson” and a truly gorgeous cover of Nora Jones’ “Don’t Know Why.” The Then part is another half dozen beautifully-mixed live versions of Smokey classics like “Going to A Go-G0,” “I Second That Emotion,” “Ooo Baby Baby,” “The Tears of a Clown,” “Being With You” and “The Tracks of My Tears.”
The album drops (and I can’t believe I just used the word “drops” like that”) on Monday, November 1, the same day we’ll be chatting with Smokey Robinson on WDAZ News @5. (No one has more fun at work than I do.)
