We’re going to be talking with a very special guest on WDAZ News @5 on Monday. Melanie Bloom is the widow of NBC News correspondent David Bloom. You may remember him. He gained world-wide attention, traveling with the 3rd Infantry Division in Iraq, broadcasting live from the front lines as the droops made their way to Baghdad. He wouldn’t return. Not because of a war injury, but rather he died of deep vein thrombosis or DVT, as some 300,000 Americans do each year.
Following her husband’s death, Melanie Bloom became a national spokesperson for The Coalition to Prevent DVT. She is devoted to making DVT a household name and educating others about reducing the risks of developing the potentially life threatening disease. Her first book is to be published this spring. We’re looking forward to talking with her.
