Joel Siegel

I’ve always liked Joel Siegel’s work as Good Morning America’s film critic and entertainment reporter, but until I read his LA Times obit I had no idea he was a civil rights worker who registered voters in Georgia and marched with Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr., wrote jokes for Robert Kennedy and served in the Army Reserve. It’s amazing how interesting some people’s lives are (apart from television).

Siegel died yesterday at the age of 63. To hear Charles Gibson tell it, Siegel was incapable of holding a conversation that wasn’t interesting.
