A friend of mine is going to be on Entertainment Tonight Monday.  She’s not a celebrity.  She’s the president of the Anna Westin Foundation.

Kitty  Westin and I became friends when her husband Mark and I were Army buddies at Ft. Benning, Georgia.  Years later, in February of 2000, their daughter, Anna, died tragically at the age of 21 as a result of the eating disorder anorexia.  She fought it for years.

Along with Minnesota Attorney General Mike Hatch, the Westins sued Blue Cross and Blue Shield of Minnesota for denying their daughter proper coverage and care.  Mark and Kitty used a million dollar settlement to start the Anna Westin Foundation and the Anna Westin House for women with eating disorders in Chaska, Minnesota.  It’s an amazing story.  I’ve never been prouder of anyone.

The piece on ET Monday centers around former gymnast and actress Cathy Rigby who has battled an eating disorder as well.  Entertainment Tonight is on WDAY and WDAZ at 6:30 pm.
