The May edition of Rolling Stone is the magazine’s 1,000th. The cover, which has always been an intregal part of Rolling Stone’s identity, is particularly memorable this month.
It’s recalls the Beatles’ famous Sgt. Pepper’s Lonely Hearts Club Band album cover. The Rolling Stone’s 1,000th is printed in 3-D with a guide inside to better identify those pictured.
Reportedly costing the magazine an extra million dollars to produce, it features 150 pop icons. Some are the usual suspects like Bob Dylan, Prince, Janis Joplin and Eminem. But also there’s George Clooney, Tom Cruise, Bill Clinton and Ronald Reagan. Like a lot of other RS covers, this one is likely to be talked about for a long, long time.
