This Is Your Life, Regis

According to the Associated Press, Regis Philbin is going to be hosting a new primetime version of the classic "This Is Your Life" television show for ABC.  It should be a hoot.

I grew up watching the original show created by Ralph Edwards in the 50’s and 60’s.   Each week Ralph would surprise a well-known personality with a recounting of his or her life complete with emotional reunions with teachers, coaches, family and the like.  Then he’d send them all off to party at the Hollywood Roosevelt Hotel.

North Dakota native Angie Dickinson has the honor of being the only celebrity to walk off the show, by the way.  Talk about reality television.  (I don’t know why exactly, but I always admired her for that.)

No air date for the Regis version of the show has been announced.  ABC over-exposed Regis when he hosted "Who Wants to Be a Millionaire" from 1999 to 2002.  Perhaps this time cooler heads will prevail.
